Embedded Software Engineer – Aktiia

We are currently looking for an experienced Firmware Developer for our client Aktiia: https://aktiia.com/uk/




Challenging things you’ll work on:

  • Implement new features and contribute to the existing firmware in compliance with IEC 62304 standard
  • Take ownership of specific feature implementations and produce structured, easy to read and efficient code
  • Write unit tests and verify the code against defined test cases
  • Contribute to the update of the technical/regulatory documentation (SW specifications, architecture, SW test plan, SW test report, …)
  • Participate in code review meetings and ensure timely delivery of high-quality code
  • Discuss possible implementations with lead developers and contributors to the overall design and architecture of our firmware
  • Estimate development efforts and do sprint planning together with the team
  • Keep track of your work and make sure to follow the development process
  • Plan releases together with the team and supports the release of our firmware in the backend service
  • Collaborate in the activities of the project development and R&D teams

Your contribution to the team includes:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field
  • 3-5 years working experience as a professional firmware developer
  • Knowledge and practical experience with Cortex M4 microcontroller family, bare-metal programming, embedded C programming, BLE radio, serial communication, ultra-low power management
  • Experience with firmware development for wearable devices or similar products is a big plus, especially with optical sensing
  • Understanding software development lifecycles in a regulated industry with experience in medical device software development is a big plus
  • Willingness to work flexibly, in an interdisciplinary and international environment, depending on the current project status
  • Strong analytical skills and process-oriented work style with a structured, independent approach to work and focus on getting things done
  • Fluency in English (French and other European languages are a plus)
